Justin Converse, Chairman/CEO


Justin Converse serves as the chairman/chief executive officer of RePower South. As CEO of his coal brokerage and logistics business, Converse and Company, Inc., Converse is a recognized leader within the energy business, and has extensive experience working with electric utilities throughout the Southeast. He also serves as chairman of Glasscock Company, an industry leader in the sand and ready-mix markets. Converse is a distinguished alumnus from Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C., who currently sits on the college’s Board of Trustees.

Robert N. Shepard

Robert N. Shepard, President

Bob Shepard, a thirty-five year veteran of the environmental industry, has significant expertise in all aspects of solid waste management, including collection, disposal, and recycling.  He served as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Fennell Container Co. Inc. and its affiliate companies from 1979 to its sale in 1995 to Republic Services.  He became Regional Vice President of Republic Services (RSG) for the Southern Region in 2000 and was responsible for all solid waste operations in the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida until 2009.  He has served on the Board of Directors of the National Solid Waste Management Association, the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce and is a past Chairman of the Clemson University Board of Visitors.  A Charleston native, Bob is currently Managing Partner of R N Shepard Investments LLC and serves on the Board of LSC Environmental Products LLC.

Jim Bohlig

Jim Bohlig, Chief Development Officer


Jim Bohlig is the founder and former CEO of ReCommunity Holdings. In his previous roles with ReCommunity and as President and Chief Operating Officer of Casella Waste as well as in his current role with Repower South, Bohlig is one of the original inventors of ReEngineered Feedstock™ technology which Repower South has licensed from Accordant Energy. Accordant Energy is owner of the technology and its intellectual property rights. While at Recommunity Holdings, Bohlig was instrumental in obtaining Accordant's critical Non-Hazardous Secondary Material Determination letter from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and the Naval Nuclear Power Program, Bohlig has built nuclear power plants and independent power projects for Westinghouse around the world. In his capacity over 22 years at Casella Waste, Bohlig was a prime mover in the development of Casella Waste System as an Integrated Waste Management provider for the Northeast.

Brian Gilhuly

Brian Gilhuly, Chief Operating Officer


Brian is an entrepreneur and investment professional having successfully built and sold multiple transformational businesses in the renewable energy, health care, media and real estate sectors with over $500 million in transactions. Brian participated in the founding of ReCommunity Holdings and worked with Jim Bohlig on the development and commercialization of renewable energy. Most recently, Brian served as the COO of SAMI Health, a healthcare risk management technology company founded in partnership with the Yale New Haven Health System, a $3 billion healthcare system. From inception, Brian secured capital, led company development and product implementation, and oversaw a successful exit. Brian is an honors graduate of Providence College.

Scott Montgomery

Scott Montgomery, Principal

Scott has over 15 years of financial management experience as an investment banker, venture capitalist and entrepreneur.  Before working as an investment banker at JP Morgan in New York, he spent two years in Poland starting a multi-national textile printing joint venture that quickly grew to over $20 million in sales.  After returning to South Carolina in 2001, Scott Co-Founded The Southern Mulch Company a green waste recycling, composting and retail landscape supply business with multiple locations and served as CEO.  In 2012, he Co-Founded Core Care Medical a health care software company and served as President and CEO until 2013.  Scott also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System Foundation, the Spartanburg Day School and Upstate Forever’s advisory board.  Scott earned a B.A. in Economics from Hampden-Sydney College.
